New York Times recommend Merino

 Taking a trip to New York or another similarly frosty climate? The New York Times (and ioMerino) recommends layers of merino wool to keep you frostbite free and toasty warm in sub-zero temperatures.

The Times state layering is key. Our tips include layering ioMerino's smooth and textured fabrics together to trap your body heat between the layers of clothing while relying on the thermo-dynamic merino wool fabric to give you maximum comfort.

New York Times also strongly advise against wearing cotton (frighteningly named the 'White Death') as it does not have the same temperature regulating and moisture-wicking properties that merino wool has.

In temperatures of 4 degrees it will take around 30 to 45 minutes for you to get frostbite, the United States National Weather Service said, so don't forget our three golden rules:
